Hello! It's been a long time.

Hello! It's been a long time.

You might remember my book blog from Back in the Day. It's been what, a decade? At least? At some point, blogging started feeling like a job, so I got bored and quit. It didn't help that the vast majority of my "readers" were students looking to cheat on exams. That was clearly before the age of AI. Things were better back then.

Now I'm old and focused on grandma hobbies. That's most of what you'll see here. Yes, I still run, which isn't a grandma hobby, but knitting, sewing, and (occasionally) crocheting definitely are. I'm starting this blog again because I've left social media for the most part. Palmer and I both deleted all of our social media on a certain January 20th, but I went crawling back to Instagram and, later, Facebook. I lasted almost a year. It feels different now because I haven't friended many people, only people I see all the time anyway, and I don't feel like I have anything to share. But I still miss sharing.

So here I am with my grandma hobbies, out in the dwindling blogosphere, probably receiving little to no traffic. The point is, though, that right now I'm enjoying myself, and I'll stop if I'm not. I might even jabber about a book or two if I'm in the mood.

Here are some of my latest projects, usually accompanied by cats.

I crocheted Palmer a simple striped blanket with big yarn. I call it oatmeal raisin cookies because that's what the colors remind me of, and that's his favorite cookie. And the cat is Smoliver.

Here's Smoliver again (his actual name is Oliver), helping me crochet a bet for him. Now that it's finished, he never lays in it.

Here's Noodlebowl with my first sweater when it was in progress. That's the Easton Striped Pullover by Two of Wants and was a pretty fast knit with bulky yarn and big needles. I was sure I would love it because I like horizontal stripes so much, but once I put it on, I realized that I would never wear it. Hopefully a friend will want it.

I'm currently knitting a the Flax sweater (worsted) by Tin Can Knits with this yarn. I had to get it in two dye lots, so hopefully it'll work out. I don't see any difference between the two. I guess I haven't taken any pictures of the knit itself - I'm a little more than halfway through, and I really should take some progress photos.

Speaking of lack of photos, I'm also knitting my first pair of socks, Vanilla Socks on 9" Circular Needles by Crazy Sock Lady with some ultra fun self-striping sock yarn by Premier in "Dragonfruit." I've made a little progress, but they'll take a while.

I started my latest project today, a sewn case for circular knitting needles.

The orange is Maurice, and the tuxedo is Roland, aka The Menace. I downloaded a pattern from Etsy and used some fabric I already had. I've cut it out and started sewing it, but I'm pretty sure it won't get finished until at least next weekend.

So that's where I currently am in my grandma hobbies. I'll update here as I see fit. Thanks for reading! :)
